The University of Lagos hereby issues the following mandatory guidelines for all graduating students and their invited guests in respect of the 56th Convocation Ceremonies. These directives are intended to preserve the order and solemnity of this prestigious academic event. Strict adherence is required.
1. Mandatory Arrival Time
a. Graduating students (with access cards) must be seated at the J. F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium not later than 8:30 a.m. for morning session, and 12.30p.m. for Afternoon Session
b. The Convocation Ceremony shall commence at 9:00 a.m. for the Morning Session, and 1:00 p.m. for the Afternoon Session.
c. Entry into the Auditorium shall cease once the academic procession has begun.
Graduating students who arrive late shall forfeit the right to access the J. F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium.
2. Seating and Movement
a. Graduating students and guests shall occupy only their duly assigned seats.
b. Loitering, standing, unnecessary movement, or attempting to exit the J. F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium before the end of the programme is strictly prohibited.
Once the programme has commenced, all persons shall remain seated until formally directed by Convocation officials.
3. Guests Entitlement
a. Each graduating student is entitled to a maximum of two (2) guests.
b. Guests must comply fully with all security protocols and seating arrangements. They must sit at designated places, only.
c. For reasons of order and safety, the presence of young children is strongly discouraged.
4. Conduct and Observance of Decorum
a. Convocation is a formal academic ceremony; therefore, exemplary conduct is required at all times.
b. Any act capable of disrupting proceedings, including disregard for instructions issued by University officials, will attract immediate sanctions.
c. The University reserves the right to deny access to, or eject from the venue, any person who contravenes these guidelines.
5. Enforcement
a. Convocation marshals, University officials, and security personnel are duly authorised to enforce these guidelines without exception.
b. No appeals or concessions shall be entertained on matters of timing, seating, or movement.
All graduating students, their guests, and members of the general public are enjoined to cooperate fully to ensure that the 56th Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Lagos are conducted in a manner befitting the institution’s heritage, dignity, and global standing.
